Treatments

The techniques and methods applied during each session to restore the balance depend on the original cause of the disease and its level of development. Treatments include acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal tonics, cupping, nutrition, qigong, acupressure and health consultation.

Acupuncture 針 침

Oriental medicine is a comprehensive and gentle approach to healing that is tailored to each individual patient's unique clinical presentation. This natural form of treatment is non-invasive and safe, and at Scholars Way Healing Center, we use disposable needles and follow certified clean needle techniques to ensure the highest level of hygiene and safety. Our team of professionally licensed acupuncture practitioners are dedicated to helping patients achieve pain relief, reduce stress, improve metabolism, stimulate blood and qi circulation, correct hormonal imbalances, and promote overall health and well-being.

Moxibustion 灸 쑥뜸

Moxibustion is a technique used in traditional Chinese medicine to add energy to the body and regulate energy flow. It can be used to treat both excessive and deficient conditions, and there are no contradictions to its use. The key to successful treatment with moxibustion is selecting the appropriate acupuncture points. This therapy directly manipulates energy in a way that herbs, which must be processed by the digestive and circulatory systems, cannot. The benefits of moxibustion include warming the meridians and expelling cold, promoting the smooth flow of qi and blood, rejuvenating the nervous system, boosting the immune system, and strengthening the body's resistance to disease.

Herbal Tonic 補藥 보약

For centuries, herbs have been used in traditional medicine to cleanse, nourish, and tonify the body. They are believed to promote overall good health and increase the production of hormones, which in turn can help improve the flow of qi. At our clinic, we carefully combine herbs based on each individual's health needs, and then boil and package them in convenient packets that can be easily heated and consumed at home. Our herbal tonics are designed to help with a wide range of health issues, including low energy levels, decreased stamina, diabetes, high blood pressure, respiratory problems, allergies, and stunted growth in children.

Cupping

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine that is used to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation, and overall well-being. It is also sometimes used as a form of deep-tissue massage. During cupping therapy, a therapist will place a flammable substance, such as alcohol, in a cup and set it on fire. Once the fire goes out, the therapist will place the cup upside down on the skin. As the air inside the cup cools, it creates a vacuum, which causes the skin to rise and redden as the blood vessels expand. The cup is typically left in place for 10-15 minutes. After the treatment, the therapist may apply an antibiotic ointment and a bandage to prevent infection. The skin should return to its normal appearance within 10 days.

Accupressure

Acupressure is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that is based on the same principles as acupuncture. It involves the application of pressure to specific acupoints on the body to promote relaxation and wellness and to treat disease. These acupoints are located along invisible energy channels called meridians, and it is believed that when these meridians are blocked or out of balance, illness can occur. By applying pressure to specific points along the meridians, acupressure and acupuncture aim to restore balance and improve overall health. Acupressure is a non-invasive and safe treatment option that can provide relief from a variety of conditions.

Qigong

KoBang Qigong is an ancient, intense form of qigong that challenges you to self-heal. The practice involves freeing your joints from stiffness, controlling your breath, and calming your mind to help the flow of energy to every part of your body. By circulating qi (life force energy) through the body in stationary standing positions, KoBang Qigong aims to improve concentration, stamina, bone density, and the production of blood cells in the bone marrow. Even in still positions, the practice can provide a challenging workout. By circulating qi, KoBang Qigong aims to energize all the body's meridians, as described in classical Oriental medicine. The practice may offer numerous benefits, including improved breathing, restored vital energy (qi), enhanced nervous system function, tissue regeneration, and increased bone density. It also offers techniques to build qi and self-heal.

What Is

Acupuncture 針 침

Acupuncture is a form of medicine that involves manipulating the body's energy to restore balance and promote healing. In acupuncture, the body is viewed as a series of reservoirs and channels filled with energy (or qi), and imbalances in this energy can lead to illness. Acupuncture aims to restore balance by identifying and addressing the underlying cause of the imbalance, whether it be excess or deficiency. Treatment techniques and methods vary depending on the cause and stage of the illness, and may involve moving or draining excess energy, or tonifying and adding energy to deficient areas. By restoring balance to the body's energy, acupuncture aims to promote overall health and well-being.

Moxibustion 灸 쑥뜸

The terms "direct" and "indirect" moxibustion refer to how the moxa (dried mugwort herb) is applied during treatment. In direct moxibustion, the moxa is placed directly on the skin, sometimes using an herb slice as a buffer. This method is to add new energy to the body and has a strong therapeutic effect. In indirect moxibustion, the moxa is not placed directly on the skin. Instead, the heat from the burning moxa is directed towards the skin, providing warmth and heat to the area being treated. Indirect moxibustion is often used to supplement other therapies, such as acupuncture or massage, and can be used to apply larger amounts of heat to the body. The primary purpose of indirect moxibustion is to provide heat to "melt" frozen or stagnant energy, harmonizing the energies in an area and providing yang (energizing) support. This technique is often used to treat areas where the energy is frozen, but not necessarily deficient or blocked.

Herbal Tonic 補藥 ( 보약 ) Adults:

Our special herbal tonic has been used for centuries to help the body adapt to the changing seasons. Taken twice a year, in the spring and autumn, it helps to rejuvenate the body and increase its resilience to changes in weather and environmental conditions. As the seasons change, the body expends a lot of energy trying to adjust, which can lead to chronic fatigue and weakness. Our herbal tonic is designed to enhance each individual's organic function, helping them feel energized and revitalized. It is a natural and effective way to support the body's health and well-being.

Children’s Growth Tonic 成長湯 ( 성장탕 )

By nourishing and tonifying the kidneys, this tonic can help promote healthy brain development in young children, as well as support overall health and well-being.

Diabetes Tonic

Our diabetes tonic is a special blend of herbs designed to support the health of individuals with diabetes. This tonic works by strengthening and nourishing the spleen, kidney, and liver, which are important organs in regulating blood sugar levels and overall health in people with diabetes. By supporting the function of these organs, our diabetes tonic can help manage symptoms and promote overall well-being.

KoBang (Old Way) Qigong:

In traditional Chinese medicine, maintaining balance and harmony in the flow of qi (life energy) is essential for good health and well-being. One way to achieve this balance is through the practice of qigong, which involves exercising the flow of qi through the body's energy channels (meridians). Qigong combines the benefits of resistance and stretching exercises, and places emphasis on the importance of the "push and pull" concept in improving overall muscle balance. With a history dating back over 5,000 years, qigong has been used to improve posture, balance, coordination, endurance, flexibility, and overall health and quality of life.

How can Qigong be beneficial to my health?

Simple daily activities can often lead to stress and muscle tension, which can have negative effects on overall health. Qigong can help relieve muscle tension and restore balance in the body by facilitating the flow of energy. This flow of energy not only relieves tension, but also strengthens the bones, improves joint health, and increases blood circulation. Qigong involves challenging the body through a variety of positions and breath work, which engages a wide range of muscle groups and stimulates the bone marrow to increase cell count and support the immune system. By improving energy and blood flow, qigong can also slow down and even reverse the effects of aging.
